If you ask, what a meta is? Well, a metadata can be defined as hidden information of a digital file. Almost all digital files has metadata. So, audio files do have metadata. In this, all essential information of that particular audio file is stored. Now, what all information? It has the information like album name, composer, track, genre, year of release and so on here we are gonna do it using an album art maker…
We cannot directly see and change the meta data, we need softwares that does exactly that. In the first place, why do we need to change that anyway? Because, when we make any podcasts, and play them on any player, we only see UNKNOWN everywhere. It doesn’t feel natural at all. This also happens with some of the musical albums where we only get to see the default cover of the music player but not the original cover of that particular song or album.
Also, the podcasts that you make yourself get a default uninteresting name and you wouldn’t get any cover image or the speaker’s name (your name). In this case to specify or segregate all your podcasts you need to change the meta. More over you can also create albums by selecting specific audio file.
Here’s how to do it on a PC, to change a meta, you need a software. So, the software I use is Mp3tag. Mp3tag allows you to alter any metadata related to an audio file. Anything like a cover image of an album or a song, changing the title of any audio file, changing names of an artist etc… As the title says, I will show you how to change the cover image of an audio file.
Here’s how to do it.
Step 1: Download the Mp3tag at Mp3tag. Just hit the link and download.
Step 2: Just install the software, same way as you do to install any other software. And open it. The icon looks something the image shown below.
Step 3: Once you open it, it looks like the image below. Now, select the audio file for which you want to alter the metadata, then drag and drop that into the software. In this case, the file I used was my recording.
To your left, you will see all the metadata of the audio file selected. As my podcast has no metadata, those spaces are empty. (Sorry for the clarity of those images, screenshot isn’t working well).
Step 4: To your left, you will see a white square with a CD image on it. That’s the cover image option. It’s like that because my podcast as no cover. Now, lets start giving some metadata. As you see in the images below, I saved the title to “MY PODCAST” , artist to ” Abhijit” and to get the cover image just drag an drop the desired image as shown below.
Step 5: After you are done doing that, click save, remember that without selecting the audio file in the software, you won’t see the save option. To find save option, click on “file” and then on “Save tag”. You are done! Now go ahead and play the audio, you will see the changes done. As shown in the image below.
